There was only one winner at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol on Friday night, and that was men's health charity, Talk Club. In the centre circle of their big fundraising and awareness raising month of the year, was the Talk Club cup. A charity football match between ex-Bristol City and Bristol Rovers players, with super sub style local celebrities helping to raise the bar on the profile for the event, and making it all the more special.

I organise monthly social events for my men's yoga group to get together outside of my classes. in Keynsham. The events have taken us out on walks, and into pubs, and restaurants. The idea being to give the guys an opportunity to get to know one another a bit better, and forge new friendships along the way. The timing for this month's event coincided nicely with the Talk Club cup, and so we joined the masses at the match.

I've partnered with Talk Club for a few years now, What started out as a casual chat with co-CEO Gavin about blending Talk Club's structure into my Yoga for Men classes has evolved into this becoming one of the charity's many Talk & Exercise sessions on offer.

I feel like I'm part of Talk Club's extended family, and its network of volunteer Captains who are having such a positive impact in their local communities . To see the charity's name in lights on such a big stage made me feel very proud to be part of this movement.

I remember back to co-CEO Ben's powerful Ted Talk when I was keen to get under the skin of what Talk Club was all about. He said something along the lines of taking the charity to where men meet up - the pubs, the social clubs, and yes, the football matches. The legacy of this event will not be the 4-nil scoreline to Bristol City, it'll be that thousands of men, women and children (including my own) will have contributed towards a hugely successful event that has also shone a light on the charity's work.
