how are you? Out of 10?

It’s a simple question with a lot of substance behind it.
I’ve partnered with men’s health charity Talk Club at my Yoga for Men classes in Bristol over the past 5 years. Each week we have gathered in a circle and shared scores out of 10 to reflect how we’ve felt in that moment at the start and at the end of each session.
It’s proven to be a measurable way to assess the positive impact an hour of yoga can have on how someone feels. The year-on-year trends tell their own story. Guys that may check-in with a lower score are potentially checking out with a score up to 27% higher.
As much as I love to see the positive impact these sessions are having, each individual score that goes into this graphic tells its own story. When a guy attends, simply by crossing the threshold can be enough to know they’re putting themselves first. Compounding this by being in a safe, non-judgmental, supportive space with other guys to practice yoga for an hour - is it any surprise their score often goes up.
I am sure this isn’t unique to my Yoga for Men classes. Talk Club offers all manner of talking groups with a physical activity. From a quick search of groups in Bristol there’s Talk & Run, Talk & Tennis, Talk & Football and more 👀
The men’s health movement is growing, and you can be part of it.
