from worrier to warrior

It’s fair to say that I was lacking the usual spring in my step as I walked to my Yoga for Men class at Keynsham Baptist Church on Monday night.

A busy day at work with tight deadlines from start to finish left me feeling drained. Coupled with that, it took much of my remaining strength to wrestle with the boys while getting them dressed in many layers ready for football training… and even then they were late.

Rushing around while getting ready for yoga, I seriously questioned whether it was all worth it. I even phoned YogaMum on a freezing pitch side to tell her the same…

I was sporting my Talk Club t-shirt to yoga, and wore my heart on my sleeve sharing my lowest score yet with the 17 guys that joined me.

Grounding the practice with our scores provides us all a baseline to work from. When we check out at the end, most go up, some stay the same or go down. Most importantly, we decide on a figure that best represents how we feel in that moment.

I’m pleased to say that after putting my worries to one side for an hour, my score went up considerably. I felt more like a warrior, not necessarily facing the world with all guns blazing. More that I had the tools at my disposal should I ever need that protective shield to deal with whatever life throws my way.
